Squadron Officer School (SOS) 26D – A03 Practice Test

Mission generation is about turning available aircraft, crews, and maintenance into ready sorties. The squadron handles the day-to-day generation of missions by scheduling aircraft, pairing crews, and coordinating maintenance to deliver the planned sorties. A wing groups multiple squadrons and provides overarching support, but it doesn't generate individual missions by itself. Higher commands like MAJCOM or a numbered air force set policy and resources rather than actively generating each mission. So the squadron is described as the Mission Generation Force Element because it is the unit that actually produces and sustains mission-ready capability.
